TOP TEAMS FAIL TO WIN SUNDAY... ties for Serbian Eagles, Shooters, TFC and Milltown while Galaxy win

The four top teams ended Sunday games with draws as Serbian White Eagles and Brampton Lions tied 0-0, TFC Academy and Milltown FC ended 1-1 and York Regions Shooters were held by North York Astros 1-1. Brantford Galaxy fared better, they defeated London City 2-1.

It was a well-played scoreless tie at Victoria Park where lead leading Serbian White Eagles failed to find the net for the second time over the weekend.

The 0-0 tie follows an upset 1-0 loss to North York Astros on Friday night, but despite picking up just a single point, Serbian Eagles remain on top of the CSL First Division with a slim one-point margin over York Region Shooters and TFC Academy.

Serbian Eagles now have a 9-2-7 WLT record for 33 points, while Brampton Lions continue to climb the table in search of a playoff spot, they are now tied for eighth position with a 6-8-5 record for 23 points.

A last minute equalizer for North York Astros snatched away a York Region Shooters victory and three points in the 1-1 tie at Maple.

Jason De Thomasis opened the scoring for the Shooters at the 65 minute mark and the 1-0 score held until the Astros' Nikola Miodrag curved a shot inside the 18 yard line at 93 minutes to beat York Region goalkeeper Camilo Benzi. The ball entered the net just inside the right post.

York Region now have a 9-3-6 record for 33 points, second in the standings, while North York Astros pick-up four points over the weekend and improve to 5-12-3 for 18 points.

The Milltown FC encounter with TFC Academy also had top of the table implications, especially for the academy team, a win would put them on top.

And TFC that took the lead at the Bishop Reding ground in Milton when midfielder Oscar Gordon collected a cross from the right wing to score from 10 yards. At 26 minutes the visitors had an opportunity to two up when awarded a penalty but Nicholas Lindsay took the kick and failed to score when Milltown 'keeper Scott Cliff dove to his left to make the save.

Lesly St. Fleur tied the game for Milltown just before half-time, scoring with a diving header past TFC goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo for a 1-1 score that remained to the final whistle.

Tristan Scott of Milltown FC was shown the red card late in the second half following a second caution.

Milltown FC now have a 8-4-6 record for 30 points, in fourth position as a result of the draw, while TFC Academy have a 9-4-6 record for 33 points, tied for second with York Region Shooters.

Annasse Brouk scored from the penalty spot at 57 minutes to give London City the lead against Brantford Galaxy at Lions Park following a tripping call against Galaxy goalkeeper Ante Domjanovic

Galaxy forward Ranko Golijanin scored his ninth goal of the season to tie the score seven minutes later, he struck a well placed free kick from the edge of the box into the right corner.

Mark Vantol, a regular in the Brantford reserve team earlier, scored the winning goal at 68 minutes, a shot from 10 yards that beat London goalkeeper Scott Mueller.

Brantford Galaxy improve to 8-6-3 for 27 points, tied for 6th position in the standings, while London City are in 12th place with a 3-10-5 record for 14 points.

There were two games in the CSL Reserve Division on Saturday, TFC Academy II and Milltown FC Reserves tied 2-2, while Brampton Lions Reserves earned a 3-1 victory over Portugal FC.
