SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES REACH THE TOP ........New signing strikes winner for London City

Serbian White Eagles continued their pursuit of the CSL league title with an important 1-0 victory over FC Hamilton Croatia, while in one other game played Friday night, London City moved off the cellar position in the standings with a 2-1 win over St. Catharines Wolves.
It was Serbian Eagles 11th game without a loss and an improvement on their already outstanding goal differential with only 7 goals conceded in the 12 games played so far this season.
Eagles' Shawn Brown appeared to be the most dangerous forward on the field and he struck the only goal of the game at the 24th minute, a game with few opportunities for goals as both teams defended well throughout.
The win lifts Serbian White Eagles to a tie for top position with an 8-1-3 WLT record for 27 points, while FC Hamilton Croatia drop to the third position in the standings, they now have a 7-4-5 record for 26 points.
A late winner by new signing Younan Samra at 82 minutes gave London City their 2-1 victory in a game contested by the two clubs occupying the last two positions in the CSL standings. City had to fight back from a 1-0 deficit when forward Simon Murphy gave St. Catharines the lead at 22 minutes, but London drew level when midfielder David Ortega scored at the 45th minute mark.
Samra came to London City well recommended as a goalscorer from Polish White Eagles of the Western Ontario Soccer League and the form shown in breaking through to beat St. Catharines goalkeeper Claudio Perri for the winner suggests there could be more to come.
London City move to 12th position with a 2-7-4 record for 10 points, while St. Catharines drop to 13th with a 2-10-2 record for 8 points.
There are two games in the CSL Saturday, with Portugal FC traveling to the Saputo Stadium in Montreal for a game with the Impact Academy team, that's a 1 pm start and in Toronto it's TFC Academy at Brockton Stadium against Toronto Croatia at 7 pm.
