LATE GOALS BRING TWO TIES IN CSL GAMES SUNDAY .....Skoczylas strikes twice for Brampton

A late goal played a part in a 3-3 tie between Brantford Galaxy and FC Hamilton Croatia and also in a 2-2 tie between Brampton Lions and Toronto Croatia, two games in the CSL Sunday.

Toronto Croatia took the lead in the game with Brampton Lions at Victoria Park in Brampton when Tihomir Maletic drove the ball from 15 yards to beat goalkeeper Roy Blanche for a 1-0 score which held up to half-time.

Forward Blazej Skoczylas tied the game for Brampton at 57 minutes, a well-placed free kick from 24 yards which left Croatia goalkeeper Sandi Matika with little chance a it entered the net with pace just inside the post. Skoczylas then struck a second goal to give the home side a 2-1 lead 10 minutes later, his fifth and sixth goals of the season.

Toronto Croatia pressed for an equalizer and the goal eventually came at 79 minutes with a play from the right wing, the ball was moved into the centre where Hayden Fitzwilliams drove a low shot into the net from 16 yards.

The visitors had chances to win the game with the best opportunity missed by Hugo Herrera at the 89th minute mark, his shot going just wide from 10 yards and the game ended a 2-2 tie.

Brampton have a 2-8-2 WLT record for 8 points, while Toronto Croatia are now at 2-2-4 for 10 points.

The game at Lions Park in Brantford was a highly entertaining encounter and in doubt until visiting FC Hamilton Croatia scored a tying goal with just seconds remaining.

Forward Ranko Golijanin opened the scoring at the 8th minute mark, he took a pass from Drazen Vukovic for his fifth of the season for the Galaxy, but the visitors tied the game three minutes later on a goal by Preston Corporal.

Vukovic then put Brantford ahead at the 43rd minute mark, his fifth of the season, for a 2-1 score at the interval.

Hamilton striker Aidan O'Keefe tied the game 2-2 a the 65th minute, his second goal of the weekend after scoring against Milltown FC on Friday, and his 9th goal of the season.

Brantford forward Marsalis Beckford put his team ahead 3-2 at 71 minutes and it looked like the winning goal until with just seconds remaining forward Jerko Grubisic beat substitute goalkeeper Kyle Bissonette at the 93rrd minute, a 3-3 final score.

Brantford Galaxy have a 5-3-3 record for 18 points in fifth position in the standings, while FC Hamilton Croatia have a 5-2-5 record for 20 points in fourth position.

There is one game in the CSL on Wednesday when London City visit St. Catharines for game with the Wolves, that’s an 8.30 pm kickoff.
