HAMILTON CROATIA CRUSH PORTUGAL 5-0 TO JUMP INTO SECOND......Serbian Eagles beat Galaxy 3-1 and Milltown FC unbeaten in seven with 1-1 tie

FC Hamilton Croatia crushed Portugal FC 5-0 to jump into second place in the CSL standings, Serbian White Eagles continued their steady climb with a 3-1 win over Brantford Galaxy and Milltown are now unbeaten in 7, a 1-1 tie with Toronto Croatia, three games in the CSL on Friday.

Hamilton Croatia took a 2-0 lead at half-time against Portugal FC at Lamport Stadium in Toronto's west-end, an opening goal by midfielder Boris Vurdelja who beat Portugal goalkeeper Mike Silva at the 6th minute mark and a second by defender Sandro Rajkovic at 27 minutes.

The visitors kept up the pace in the second half and at 57 minutes Antonijo Zupan increased the lead to 3-0, midfielder Danny Jirta made it 4-0 at 70 minutes and Jamie Dodds rounded out the scoring for a 5-0 score at 86 minutes, the final score.

The win moves the Hamilton Croatia side to second position with a 5-1-4 (WLT) record for 19 points and tied on points with Milltown FC. Portugal FC have a 3-5-2 record for 11 points.

Milltown FC have impressed lately to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games with the 1-1 against a tough Toronto Croatia side, played at Bishop Reding in Milton.

The home side went ahead on a penalty kick at 57 minutes when Martin Kuijpers was upended in the penalty box, the midfielder took the penalty and make no mistake from the spot.

Toronto Croatia tied the score 1-1 at 67 minutes when Hayden Fitzwilliams headed in a free kick. The score remained to the final whistle.

Milltown FC have a 5-2-4 record for 19 points, while Toronto Croatia have a 2-2-3 record for 9 points.

It was an even contest for a scoreless first half at Centennial Stadium where Serbian White Eagles came through with a 3-1 win over Brantford Galaxy, but the home side looked stronger into the second half and almost took the lead when Sasa Viciknez struck the foot of the upright with a free kick at 56 minutes. Seven minutes later Alex Braletic struck the first goal, picking up the loose ball to score with a left foot shot from 6 yards and Milos Scepanovic made it 2-0 from the penalty spot just two minutes later, the penalty awarded when Galaxy defender Stanko Karacic fouled Viciknez inside the penalty area.

Brantford reduced the lead to 2-1 at 74 minutes on an own goal and Viciknez assured Serbian Eagles of the win with a goal at 90 minutes, a 3-1 final score.

Serbian White Eagles have improved to a 4-1-2 record for 14 points as a result of the victory, while Brantford Galaxy are at 5-3-2 for 17 points.

There are two games in the CSL Saturday with London City at the Saputo Stadium in Montreal for a game with the Montreal Impact Academy, that's at 1 pm and in Toronto the Astros visit Brockton Stadium for a clash with TFC Academy, that's at 3 pm.

There are no games in the CSL Sunday, but a mid-week encounter is scheduled for next Wednesday at Club Roma in St. Catharines where the Wolves host Brampton Lions, that's an 8 pm start.
