Brantford Galaxy jumped into a clear second place in the CSL standings after scoring twice in the first half to defeat St. Catharines Wolves 2-1 at Club Roma in St. Catharines Wednesday night.

After pressing early, Galaxy took the lead after 8 minutes on a goal by former McMaster University midfielder Kyle Grootenboer for a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Galaxy went ahead 2-0 when Mark Reilly chipped the ball from outside the penalty box over St. Catharines goalkeeper Claudio Perri and the score held until the 82nd minute when midfielder Matthew Stillman struck for the home side to cut the lead to 2-1.

There were few opportunities to score in the remaining 10 minutes and Brantford earned the three points for a 4-1-2 WLT record for 14 points, two behind league-leading York Region Shooters.
