TFC ACADEMY DEFEAT BRAMPTON LIONS 3-0......Montreal Academy and Hamilton Croatia play to scoreless tie
2010-05-23

TFC Academy looked strong and in control after the interval to defeat Brampton Lions 3-0 at the BMO Field, while FC Hamilton Croatia were reduced to 10 men early in the game but held on to tie Montreal Impact Academy at Dollard-des-Ormeaux, two games in the CSL Saturday.

Following a scoreless first half, TFC Academy took the lead at 66 minutes when Allando Matheson headed the ball into the net from close range and it was a header from 16 yards by Nicholas Lindsay just six minutes later that put the home side 2-0 up.

At the 83rd minute, TFC's Joshua Janniere drove the ball past Lions' goalkeeper Roy Blanche to score inside the left post from 22 yards to increase the Academy lead to 3-0 and this turned out to be the final score.

Angelo Cavalluzzo looked solid in the TFC nets to maintain the shutout.

It's TFC Academy's second win in three games, while Brampton Lions suffered their second defeat following a 3-1 loss to North York Astros on May 13.

FC Hamilton Croatia lost midfielder Danny Jirta to a red card dismissal for misconduct at the 28th minute mark, but still played well enough against Montreal Impact Academy in a game that could have gone either way at Dollard-des-Ormeaux, a game relocated from the Saputo Stadium in Montreal.

Good midfield play by both teams and sound goalkeeping by Hamilton's Cameron McKay and Montreal's Andrei Badescu accounted for the scoreless tie. Hamilton Croatia forward Aidan O'Keefe looked dangerous in front of the Montreal goal from time to time, while the Quebec team's Diderot Nana played well for the Quebec side.

Hamilton Croatia assistant coach Ante Culina was dismissed from the game at its late stages for generally showing dissent.

It's the second scoreless tie for Montreal Impact Academy following the game against Milltown on May 15, while FC Hamilton Croatia have one win, 2-1 over TFC Academy on the same date.
