Toronto FC Academy opened up their 2010 Dallas Cup U19 Division in emphatic style beating Texans Football Club 4-0 Sunday with goals from Keith Makubuya, Nicholas Lindsay (2) and Allando Matheson.

TFC started strongly and almost took the lead as early as the third minute when Matt Stinson hit the post with a powerful hard shot from 30 yards. The Academy controlled possession and created a number of half chances before the breakthrough came in the 25th minute. Dino Gardiner found some space on the flank and whipped in a delightful cross to the back post where Keith Makubuya headed in at the far post.

Allando Matheson was proving to be a handful for the opposition defense with his strength and power. He played provider on several occasions and none more decisive then when he played in a streaking Nicholas Lindsay who fired a low hard shot past the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

Lindsay got his second of the match when he pounced on a poor clearance and smashed the ball into the net for the three nil lead. The game was over as a contest when the referee sent off the opposition goalkeeper in the 50th minute for what was deemed a reckless challenge. The referee also pointed to the spot, where Allando Matheson stepped up to slot past the goalkeeper for the fourth goal.

"I was very pleased with the enthusiasm, team spirit and quality of our football," said TFC Academy Senior Team Head Coach Jason Bent. "It was a very lively pitch and the windy conditions certainly did not play in our favor as we consider ourselves a good passing team."

"The boys were focused and determined to play well. Today was a real team effort and we will need more of the same if we are going to get a good result tomorrow. The first match in tournament play is always important and now we have something in which to build on"

Toronto FC Academy now face Kosmos FC in their second match on Monday, March 29th.
