From Canada Kicks:
The annual Toronto Lynx Awards banquet did not disappoint the vultures representing the Forth Estate. Rumblings among the large contingent at the splendid awards celebration, including several high ranking CSA executives, were that former national team coach Tony Waiters will be returning to the fold to lead Canada out of soccer obscurity.
Waiters, a very close friend of CSA President Jim Fleming, is remembered as the mastermind who led Canada to the 1986 World Cup. Capped five times for England the well schooled former goalkeeper spent two years in charge of Liverpool's youth program before his eventual move to Canada.
The Canadian Soccer Association is not planning to make an official announcement for six weeks and it appears that the only snag in the negotiations is Waiters' desire to have full autonomy of the program.
LYNX NEW HOME
It also appears that the Toronto Lynx search for a new
home is now focusing on York University's Football
Stadium located at Steeles and Dufferin in North
York. Small by A - League standards the York
complex does not offer the allure or amenities of other
facilities in the Megacity. An unusual choice to
say the least.
LYNX HARDWARE
The Lynx announced their award winners. Kevin
Holness was voted Most Valuable Player, Rick Titus, Best
Defender and Bryan Ashton, Most Popular Player.
