I had a feeling Toronto would win this game right from the introductions. The Flyers had brought no bench strength on this very hot day. Their record was 2 wins, 10 losses and were listed as having one of the lowest home attendances in the league--699 average. They look like they are cutting back expenses when they come to the game like this. I'm sure the Lynx wish they had not worn their all black uniforms as even the Flyers all white kit was soaked in the pregame warmup. I was surprized that the Flyers looked better as the game got nearer the end.
Attendance was not announced but it looked like their biggest crowd since this season's home opener. [Note: Attendance was 1559; press release one week later].
At the 62 minute mark, the announcers tease us with the results of the World Cup game just finishing. "...world cup game....U. S. A......One..........Iran................Two....!" The score drew wild cheers. I don't expect there were any Iranians at the game, it's just this complex Canadians have with the USA. My walk home after a ride on the subway was delayed by Iranians blocking Yonge Street for a street parade.
