Lynx Get Reinforcements

by Paul Hendren

The Toronto Lynx starting eleven is finally taking shape with the additions of Under 20 national team member Paul Stalteri ; Martin Dugas who is coming off a banner season indoors with the Edmonton Drillers and Tom Kouzmanis, who is finally fit after a long rehabilitation from a serious knee injury. The Lynx are still without the services of Chinese born midfielder Lei Gong who is awaiting his work permit.

( Editor's Note: There remains a bit of doubt as to whether Kouzmanis will be allowed to take to the field though as the Montreal Impact have stated that they believe he is still under contract to them. )

On Saturday Toronto travels to South Carolina to take on the 1996 USISL Pro League champions Charleston Battery featuring 1994 Moroccan World Cup Goalkeeper Khalil Azmi. After their first game loss to Jacksonville Lynx head coach Peter Pinizzotto believes that with the addition of the three new players his squad will be a formidable foe for Charleston.

Toronto's first home game at Varsity stadium is on Victoria Day (May 19) when they face the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Members of the Lynx will be on hand during Soccer Expo '97 at Toronto's International Centre from April 25 to 27.
