Lamport Stadium has artificial turf. It's located in downtown Toronto and was built in the late 1960s. It is officially too small for Canadian football as it only has 100 yards of playing field and 10 yard endzones. (that's USA football size). For soccer, the nets are in the back of the endzone making 120 yards between goals and the field's width is almost concrete stand to concrete stand. The player benches are squeezed right along the sideline and this later played a part in the game. I haven't been here since the CSL Toronto Blizzard finished their 1993 season after downsizing from Varsity Stadium.
1st Half: (Supra defend south end in 1st half, weather mild, stadium shadow meant that the sun played no part).
6 min...Supra Alfaro pops 35 yard shot that goalie catches.
9 min...Astro goalie catches corner kick.
10 min...Supra Mella gets 10 yard shot just wide.
15 min...Supra Mella chips 20 yard shot over goalie's head but bounces wide left.
17 min...Supra Mella gets through ball and tries to slide ball into net from 15 yards but goalie's sliding save results in corner. On resulting kick, goalie fumbles the ball but Supra header saved on line by defender's clearing header.
19 min...Supra GOAL...Kouzmanis gets through ball and runs diagonally across goal and slides ball into left corner from 15 yards.
32 min...Astros Taffe gets 20 yard ground shot wide.
35 min...Supra goalie and Astros Rajan (?) injured in crash on left edge of box both charging to make play.
40 min...Astros Heaney gets 30 yard bouncing shot wide.
41 min...Supra GOAL...Mella pots 5 yard shot into open net after Faria's 30 yard cross gets through leaping goalie's hands.
46 min...ref stops half.
2nd Half:
Halftime sub: Astros Espinosa replaces Rajan as a forward.
52 min...Astros bench goes wild for Astro Bonofiglio vs Supra Alfaro shoving incident. The coaching staff was warned to clear back from the sideline by the ref as they were actually on the playing field.
53 min...Supra Yellow card to Leal for rough play.
54 min...Astros Mondello curves 25 yard freekick over wall but goalie catches it.
59 min...Supra Mella gets 35 yard shot that goalie tips over ball.
61 min...Supra GOAL...Kouzmanis chips 20 yard shot past fallen goaltender and ball rolls into left corner of net. Mella's getting him through ball on short 10 yard pass sets him up.
67 min...Supra Leal gets hard shot from 15 yards that goalie tips wide.
70 min...Supra GOAL...Mella gets pass from Leal on 2 and 0. Leal actually has to pass back then Mella runs across goalmouth to score 7 yard goal.
72 min...Supra GOAL...Astros Marshall gets 'own goal' off his foot as he's trying to break up Kouzmanis's cross.
76 min...Supra GOAL...Mella gets hard 15 yard shot into top right corner of net after receiving long cross from Kouzmanis.
79 min...Astros Yellow card...Mondello for clutching Alfaro.
82 min...Supra Kouzmanis passes short through ball to Faria whose blast from 15 yards is tipped over bar by leaping goalie.
87 min...Supra GOAL...Kouzmanis runs down right side but this time cuts in and starts to cross goalmouth about 10 yards out and slides short side shot into right corner.
90 min...Mella loops freekick over wall right to goalie from 20 yards.

Attendance gradually increased as the game went on until it was about 120. I came to this game when I heard the Italia-London game was moved up to 4:00pm instead of its 6:00pm scheduled start. I was meanwhile at the Talons-Oakville 3:00pm game. The Italia game was a 9-1 score and the team was presented with the League championship trophy they had clinched a few weeks earlier. The fireworks display at that game wasn't so hot as it was still daylight.
