1st half (Italia defend north end in 1st half, weather looked like it would rain any minute)
10 min...Talons goalie comes out of net and makes diving save to beat Italia Gamble to the ball.
12 min...Italia Gamble puts one over net from 10 yards when ball passed back by surrounded Gioa.
16 min...Talons sub...Laineus replaces Gordon.
25 min...Talons goalie makes leaping save to stop Gioa's 30 yard shot from going into top corner.
27 min...Talons goalie leaps to catch cross.
30 min...Italia GOAL...Gioa gets through ball alone on right side. goalie rides him off by grabbing his shoulder but Gioa gets around him and takes tough angle shot from 20 yards out and 3 yards before touch line to inside far left post. This incident would have been a red card except that advantage rule resulted in a goal.
30 min...the rain that had been falling stopped and both ends of a rainbow appeared.
40 min...Talons Thomas gets 30 yard kick just wide of net.
46 min...Italia Gamble gets low crossing pass from Gioa but his 'goal' is offside.

2nd Half
50 min...Italia Gioa takes 20 yard dipping free kick over wall but bounces to goalie covering left corner.
51 min...Italia GOAL...Maradona gets through ball and chips shot over goalie.
52 min...Talons sub Williams replaces Odunsi.
54 min...Italia Maradona starts rush with long pass to Gioa who is tripped up after point blank save. Player blasts sitter from 7 yards way over net.
56 min...Italia goalie makes diving save to prevent cross completion.
58 min...Italia Maxwell has 'goal' on 20 yard blast to left corner called back on offside.
60 min...Talons GOAL...Thomas chips in rebound from 10 yards to far right corner after goalie knocked down shot from right side by Kitson.
70 min...Rain really comes down hard!
80 min...Talons yellow card...Goalie Osunduba for touching ball outside box.
81 min...Italia Maradona curves free kick from 20 yards to top right corner but goalie leaps to tip it away.
83 min...Italia Maradona is knocked into mud and injured. Talons yellow cards to Yousuf and Palmer for insuing fracas.
86 min...Italia Caporella is injured on tackle by Kitson.
87 min...Italia Maradona chip shot 'goal' is offside.
89 min...Italia GOAL...Gioa on right side gets long cross from Caporella on left side and slides 10 yard shot into left corner of net.
90 min...Talons yellow card to Williams.

Final score:...Toronto Italia........3.........North York Talons...........1....

The rain may have been the great equalizer here but there were times when the Talons outplayed Italia. Maybe only three defenders and the absence of Tom Perks left the backfield at risk of Talon breaks.

The rain really kept my comments down. There is no shelter at the stadium and I haven't found a pen that can right on wet paper.

Attendance actually climbed to about 100 as many fans came right up to halftime after they checked out the weather.
