This game was originally scheduled to be played at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough but that stadium was unavailable so it was moved to Italia's usual home. This was considered a League game.

2 min...Italia Gamble eludes defender long enough to get low shot to corner that goalie dives for and tips for corner.
13 min...Italia GOAL....Gioa gets 20 yard kick through crowd that goalie has it lined up but from wet ground it still rolls through his arms and his legs. Yikes.. cross your legs so ball doesn't roll through! That was a groaner.
14 min...Italia Gioa chips ball from 20 yards.
17 min...Italia Gioa crosses to Gamble who tips ball off crossbar from 5 yards.
23 min...Italia GOAL....Gioa curves 20 yard freekick into top right corner of net.

27 min...Italia Maxwell miskicks crossed ball and misses easy goal.
28 min...Italia Gioa dekes goalie after through ball then shoots but ball cleared off line by defender.
29 min...Italia Gamble dekes goalie but boots ball over bar from tough angle.
31 min...Italia GOAL....Gamble gets through ball to lead 3 on 1 break but from right side blasts 15 yard shot to left side of net.
34 min...3 Yellow cards for fracas in Italia crease after Perks knocked down.

41 min...Italia GOAL....Gioa tips pass from Spadafina from 20 yards towards net. As ball rolls Astros Marshall catches up to it and kicks it but can't keep it out of net.

Linesman Edwards calls about his 5th of 10 offsides this half against Italia (all deserved) as the forwards are so anxious for the fast breaks.
60 min...Italia Gioa gets shot wide from 10 yards after Astros handball about 30 yards out spotted by linesman Edwards but ref played the advantage rule or didn't see it.
62 min...Astros sub....Espinoza replaces Lopez.

71 min...Italia Annisi (?) makes 40 yard run up field but shot from 15 yards just goes wide.
73 min...Astros Yellow card...Nardi for crashing into Caporrella.
76 min...Italia GOAL....Caporrella scores. A cross is redirected by an Astros defender right to Caporrella who blasts ball from 15 yards to right corner of net.
79 min...Astros Yellow card...Kenlock for sliding tackle on Maxwell after Maxwell had gotten rid of ball. That was Kenlock's 2nd yellow so he was shown the red card and left the game.
80 min...Italia sub....Fioccola replaces Gamble.
84 min...Italia sub...Ivancescu replaces Ciaravino in goal.
90 min...Italia Perks gets 80 yard run but stopped in goal area.

It was Astros third game in a row without scoring.
Attendance was about 120 people. This was considered an Astros home game so they got the gate and with a portable sound system the announcer Ennio gave out cell phones as prizes from the ticket stubs he drew. Some Italia hecklers needled him in the first half as to if he was announcing more goals then cell phones given out!
Recent Italia home game have drawn about 400-500 fans but the problem with this game was, I feel:.....1 the weather looked like it would rain any minute.
..................................2 the game location was changed within the last 10 days and no announcement was made to inform the Astros fans at their last home game. No announcement was made at the last Italia home game last week or I'm sure more Italia fans would have come out.
Still Ennio felt that this was the biggest Astros 'home' crowd of the year.
Neither of the Maradona brothers were in the Italia lineup. Now noone expected Diego would ever play for Italia except that one Exhibition game last Monday, the rumour is that Diego made $40,000 US for the game and now his family and brother Lalo (a regular in the Italia lineup) and his family are vacationing in Mexico. Italia proved what a strong lineup they have in today's game.
