Toronto Lynx vs Rochester Raging Rhinos (new attendance record!)
by Rocket Robin

Result of the A-League game between Toronto Lynx and Rochester Raging Rhinos played Sunday July 25th at 7:00pm at Varsity Stadium.

18 min...RRR GOAL...Tommy Tanner gets short cross from right by Doug Miller and Tommy Tanner puts 7 yard shot to left corner of net. An RRR long cross from Mauro Biello left set up play.

90th min...Lynx Rudy Doliscat gets his 2nd Yellow card of the game when RRR sub Kirk Dietrich pushes Lloyd Barker out of bounds onto the gravel track. Dietrich picks up a Yellow card on that play. Doliscat ends up with his hand around Dietrich's throat.

Final Score:....Toronto Lynx.....0....Rochester Raging Rhinos......1....

The Lynx outplayed the Rhinos in the 2nd half but the Rhinos are experienced defending champions.
The Lynx would string four passes together and move from their own end to midfield but the Rhinos would still have 11 men behind the ball.

Attendance was announced as 5119 which is a new record for the Lynx in a home League game in their three year history. (the exhibition game against Santa Clara of the Azores drew more earlier this year). OK the Rhinos would bring a few hundred fans. There were hundreds of kids wearing Chinguacousy minor soccer uniforms but I don't know how promotions filled this place!

Lynx have a new player, Leonel Bolsonello from Mexico. He's 32 and a striker and played earlier for 1st division side Venados de Yucatan and earlier in his career for Vera Cruz. Tonight he put two good chances over the bar.

Canadian National goaltender Pat Onstad got the shutout for the Rhinos. Marco Reda and Chris Pozniak are on the Olympic team at the PanAm games. Pozniak will leave for Poland right after that to play in their winter league. Francisco Dos Santos, David Diplacido and Ricardo Munguia were serving suspensions.
