Toronto Lynx vs Connecticut Wolves
by Rocket Robin

Toronto Lynx played Conncecticut Wolves at Varsity Stadium in an unusual time to start a game, 12:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Attendance was announced as 2854 as most of the spectators were school children on field trips.

Short Summary:

50 minutes...Wolves Sammy Faris scores on a short 5 yard shot as he steps through defense standing around as Mike Domm crosses from 20 yards on the right side. Theo Zagar was the Lynx goalie today.

73 minutes...Lynx Nikki Vignjevic scores as he curls a freekick from 25 yards over 6 to 8 man wall and into the top left corner of the net beyond leaping goalie Billy Gatti.

Overtime:
94 minutes...Wolves had dominated the four minutes and Bobo Bokote rolls in a 3 yarder thanks to short through ball pass from a player on the right wing.

Final Score: Connecticut Wolves 2 Toronto Lynx 1

Toronto should have beaten this now 3 win, 8 loss Wolves team if they have a hope of post season play.
The second half after the tieing goal was when the Lynx had their best momentum of the game.

I can see the Lynx doing this next year as the screaming kids cheered the whole game especially when the Lynxster threw soccer balls, t-shirts and water bottles into the crowd to maintain interest. The piped in jock-rock music was allowed to continue in 1 or 2 minute bursts instead of cutting off right when the ball was thrown back into play.

The kids got soaked when the skies opened up at the 63 minute mark. It slowed to a drizzle about five minutes later then stronger again during the overtime. Very few fans left except during the hardest rain when they hid under the stands but they returned.
