Toronto Inferno vs Fort Collins Force
by Rocket Robin

Toronto Inferno played Fort Collins Force Saturday evening at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough in this W-League game.

Attendance was about 150 (but what bad luck to draw against the Women's World Cup!).

The goals scored were:
10 min...Inferno Nancy Lewis gets partial clearance and sends 25 yard shot from right of net that loops into top left corner of net.
31 min...Inferno Tina Blaskovic. A pass from Jo Hinks gives through ball to Blaskovic and she slides ball under goalie from 7 yards.
45 min...Inferno Jo Hinks. Force Megan Beasley tries to clear 40 yards out but ball hits Hinks who's away on break with two defenders in pursuit. She side steps goalie around left and slides in shot from 5 yards.

2nd Half:
66 min...Force Maren Hendershot scores with Penalty kick low to left corner.
73 min...Force Maren Hendershot on 25 yard freekick over 6 man wall into top right corner of net.
83 min...Force Maren Hendershot receives cross from left, scramble in crease does cross line as signalled by referee's assistant although defender appeared to clear it.
88 min...Force Maren Hendershot. Kriss Beddie gets ball off Inferno's Jennifer Nicholson and sends through ball to Hendershot 20 yards out. She dekes goalie and slides ball in from 5 yards.

Final Score:....Fort Collins 4 Toronto Inferno 3
Fort Collins gets 5 points in the standings (4 for the win, one for scoring at least 3 goals).
Toronto gets 1 point for scoring at least 3 goals.

Yes folks, Maren Hendershot scored all four goals for the Force in the 2nd half. Fort Collins should pass Toronto in the standings in the race for the final playoff spot.

Tomorrow at 4pm, Toronto Inferno plays Kalamazoo Quest at Birchmount Stadium.

Sorely missed Inferno defender Tanya Franck should be tonight's lineup for Canada vs Japan. Good luck!!
