2. OLYMPIANS UNDEFEATED IN REGULAR LEAGUE PLAY

It was a surprise to many observers when Toronto Olympians visited North York Astros on July 25th. and scraped home with a 2 - 1 win. However, the Olympians completed their regular season on Sunday with their home game against the Astros and a more convincing 11 - 1 win. They completed the regular season undefeated with 13 wins and 1 tied game. (They actually tied another game - against Toronto Croatia with a 1 - 1 score - but won the game 2 - 0 on a protest after Croatia was caught on a technicality for using an ineligible player).

Scoring in the rout for the Olympians were Eddy Berdusco and Elvis Thomas with four goals each while Phil Capporella, Anthony Marshall and John Matas added singles. Scoring the lone goal for the Astros was Seamus O'Connell.

In Sunday's other game, Oshawa Flames completed their first season in the CPSL and jumped to fifth place in the final league standings with a 2 - 0 win over York Region Shooters at Richmond Green. Scoring for the Flames were Mike Sewss and Terrance Lazarus.

In the one regular season game remaining, on Wednesday night at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium, Toronto Croatia and Glen Shields Sun Devils will battle for second place in the final league standings.

Then it's on to end-of-season play with the League Cup Final between Toronto Olympians and Toronto Croatia on Sunday, September 26th. at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium, kick-off 3:00 p.m. Preceding the final, the CPSL All-Stars will play the National Training Centre squad, kick-off 1:00 p.m. The play-offs follow on the next weekend in Oshawa.
