1. TORONTO CROATIA GEARING UP FOR LEAGUE
CUP SHOWDOWN AGAINST TORONTO OLYMPIANS

Toronto Croatia continued their winning ways with a convincing 6 - 1 win over North York Astros in regular league play.

Zajac Czgslaw opened the scoring for Croatia at the 10 minute mark with a nice chip over Astros goalie, Rafael Carbajal. Andy Madeiros and Robert Fran then added a goal each to give Croatia a 3 - 0 lead at the half.

North York Astros were unfortunate not to hit the score board early in the second half as they hit the post twice and missed a penalty - all in the first five minutes. They did eventually score with a goal from Chris Ewers. However, Croatia scored another three goals in the second half through Ivica Sola, Tomo Granic and Andy Madeiros, his second of the night, to make the final score 6 - 1.

As well as their League Cup showdown against Toronto Olympians on Sunday, September 26th., Croatia also have a showdown against Glen Shields Sun Devils next Wednesday, September 22nd. to decide who finishes in second place in the League.

In other league action on Wednesday night, St. Catharines Roma Wolves and Oshawa Flames played to a 1 - 1 tie. Frank Zumpano opened the scoring for St. Catharines in the 48th. minute and Craig Williams replied for Oshawa in the 65th. minute.

2. OLYMPIANS & CROATIA BOTH WIN ON WEEKEND

Toronto Olympians and Toronto Croatia both won in regular season play on Sunday as they warmed up for their League Cup Final clash on September 26th.

The Olympians continued to dominate in CPSL action as they handily defeated second place Glen Shields Sun Devils by a 4 - 0 score. Eddy Berdusco opened the scoring with two goals in the first half and he then set up Elvis Thomas for Olympians third goal before half-time. John Matas completed the scoring for the Olympians in the second half.

Toronto Croatia continued their good form in 1999 with a 3 - 1 win over the York Region Shooters. Andy Madeiros scored twice for Croatia while Ivica Jelic scored the third. Scoring the lone goal for the Shooters was Mich D'Angelo. The win moved Croatia into third place and assured them of a play-off position. However, the loss extinguished the Shooters dim play-off hopes.
