LONDON AND CROATIA TIE ONE ON

With both London City and Toronto Croatia looking for three points to bolster their playoff chances, the teams had to settle for a point a piece as they played to a 2 - 2 tie in London on Friday night. Scoring for the home side were Euclid Bertrand and Jeff Brown. Replying for Croatia were Poul Grguric and Petar Curic.

The point for Croatia was enough to mathematically eliminate last year's Playoff Champions - St. Catharines Roma Wolves - from the playoffs and a chance to repeat last year's success. However, the other three teams in the bottom half of the table are still in with a chance of making the playoffs, albeit a slim chance. All three are in action on Sunday and looking for wins with York Region Shooters and North York Astros facing each other at Richmond Green while Oshawa Flames have a mammoth task ahead of them as they travel to Birchmount to take on the Olympians.

Next week sees the second leg of the League Cup Semi-Finals with Toronto Croatia playing Oshawa Flames on Wednesday, September 1st. at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium with a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. The two teams tied the first leg 0 - 0.

The other semi-final has Toronto Olympians playing St. Catharines Roma Wolves on Friday, September 3rd. at Birchmount with an 8:30 p.m. kick-off. The Olympians hold a 2 - 0 lead from the first leg and are favoured to advance to the final.

The League Cup Final is set for Sunday, September 26th. at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium with the kick-off set for 3:00 p.m. A CPSL All-Star Game will be played at 1:00 p.m.
