ANOTHER WIN FOR ST. CATHARINES
IN LEAGUE CUP ACTION

In League Cup action on Wednesday, St. Catharines scored the only goal of the game against Toronto Croatia to take all three points and solidify their lead in Group 'B'. The goal came from Gary McGuchan in the 9th. minute of play in the first half. Despite a poor start to the season in the league, St. Catharines Roma Wolves have won their first two games in the League Cup to lead Group 'B'. The top two teams in each group qualify for the semi-finals.

In a regular league game on Wednesday, York Region Shooters came up with only their second win of the season - a 2 - 1 upset over the Flames in Oshawa. For the second game in a row, the Flames took an early lead with a goal from Dave Kohek in the 10th. minute but ending up losing the game. Oshawa almost took a 2 - 0 lead in the 14th. minute but Pieter Crossley's shot was well saved by the Shooters keeper.

In the 22nd. minute, York Shooters equalised with a long range shot by Mike Kim and they took the lead in the 44th. minute when John Bottineau stabbed the ball home following a goal-mouth scramble.

In the second half, Pieter Crossley had two great chances to get Oshawa back into the game but to no avail and with just three minutes left in the game, Shooters keeper preserved the win for his team with a great save from point-blank range. York Region Shooters win brought them within two points of a play-off position.
