PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds got two first half
goals from strikers David Flavius and Alfredo Ulloa to defeat the Toronto Lynx
2-0 in A-League soccer action Friday night at Bethel Park.
Toronto
previously beat Pittsburgh at home on June 3rd by a score of 1-0. With tonight's
loss, the Lynx extend their losing streak to four games. It is also the fourth
time they've been shut out this season.
Flavius blasted a shot past
Toronto goalkeeper Theo Zagar in the 31st minute to put the Riverhounds up 1-0.
Ten minutes later Pittsburgh defender Ricardo Iribarren fed a pass to Ulloa who
struck it past Zagar, scoring his first goal of the season.
The Lynx,
starting Juan Arango and Aaron Benjamin in place of regular starting forwards
Kristian Grezetic and Francisco Dos Santos, struggled offensively taking only
five shots on goal the entire game. Toronto has only managed to score four goals
in eight games so far this season.
Toronto's frustration on the pitch
showed as Arango and midfielder Brian Ashton both received yellow cards.
The Lynx, now 2-6-0 on the season and sitting in last place in the
Northern Conference with eight points, will look to end their losing streak when
they take on the Long Island Rough Riders next Thursday in New York.
