A-League Toronto Lynx vs Rochester Raging Rhinos
by Rocket Robin

Result of the A-League game played Sunday May 27th, 2001 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto between Toronto Lynx and Rochester Raging Rhinos.

50 minutes...Rhinos Lenin Steenkamp GOAL...Steenkamp
cuts a shot from 15 yards in box while moving left to right corner of net beyond diving goalie. Rhinos had possession in Lynx end for about 30 seconds. Nate Daligcon was awarded an assist for getting the ball to Steenkamp. (Sportsnet proved the ball deflected off defender Marco Reda).

Final Score:....Toronto Lynx....0....Rochester Raging Rhinos....1

The last ten minutes of the game were end to end action as the Lynx pressed forward and quickly retreat from the Rhino counterattack. I'll need to watch the tape I'm recording on Sportsnet to fill in the details for my web site.

It seemed to be rough up Kristian Grzetic night (two games in a row) who eventually was subbed at the 56 minute mark.

Attendance was announced as 2027. A thunderstorm had blasted through at about 3:00pm and probably killed the walk-up crowd. It also started to rain just after the national anthem but soon stopped and the sun came out.

The Ultras fans had to take on two Rhino supporter groups. The only good Rhino fan shot was "2000 out of 7 million! We get 10,000 a game."

Even the mascot game was no score as they used an oversized ball and toy nets that were almost impossible to fit the ball in.

Big game on Tuesday afternoon against Connecticut Wolves that I should be at. Important for morale
that both eastern Canadian teams don't end up at the bottom of the standings.
