Pre-Season game Toronto Lynx vs Vaughan Under 21s

Results of the Toronto Lynx vs Vaughan Under 21s preSeason game played at Lamport Stadium in Toronto Wednesday April 25th, 2001 at 7:15pm.

The Lynx wore unnumbered gray sweatshirts for this closed door session. Thanks to three of the Ultras for helping me sort through the goals.

1st Half: Lynx defend South goal on this rapidly cooling night

29 min...Lynx GOAL Hooper...Hooper has short tap-in from 3 yards after short low cross from right. His shot to right corner of net freezes goalie.

34 min...Lynx GOAL (an own goal?)...DiPlacido rushes up middle and passes off right to Aristodemo sho crosses from 15 yards and appears to be headed in.

2nd Half:...Lynx sub goalie as Yuri Elkaim comes in. Robert Fran (from Toronto Croatia 2000) is in at defense subbing for Marco Reda. Aaron Benjamin, Caswain Benjamin, and Juan Arango also are in game.

47 min...Lynx GOAL Grzetic slides in 12 yard shot from left after Vaughan defender gives up rebound on hand ball that wasn't called on left side.

49 min...Lynx GOAL Arango on scissor kick from 10 yards after Mason sends in cross from right.

55 min...Lynx GOAL Grzetic has 4 yard tap-in after Benjamin rolls in cross from right.

59 min...Lynx GOAL Arango leads stampede and 10 yard shot goes in.

62 min...Lynx GOAL Benjamin taps in rebound on left after Grzetic passes on right and Mason shot is blocked by goalie.

65 min...Lynx GOAL Grzetic 7 yard shot to right corner of net after Boby Rendhawa and Arango sets up play.

74 min...Lynx GOAL Benjamin runs to right of goalie and tucks in 5 yard shot after he and Mason beat offside trap and Mason passes to him.

75 min...Lynx GOAL Benjamin taps in after Grzetic passes off to him.

80 min...Vaughan GOAL #12...#12 gets quick break and gets pass and rushes in on breakaway. 15 yard shot to right side of net beyond diving goalie.

83 min...Lynx GOAL Arango finishes off bouncing ball play tapping it over jumping goalie's lead and bounces into net.

8:48pm...83 minutes...game ends when players and referee agree to end game under the Western Samoa mercy rule.

Final Score:...Toronto Lynx....10....Vaughan Under 21s....1

Vaughan held on for the first half. There lack of depth (looked like they brought only one sub) and the Lynx wore them out. The second half was a chess match followed by tap-ins.

The bullet started in the first half. Mason came on in the second half. We all agree after seeing this Caswain play tonight that Barker won't be missed AT ALL!!! Grzetic is the only forward who played 90 minutes, he could have had half a dozen more goals tonight but I guess he was feeling too generous.
