Attendance was around 250
people. The Toronto Ultras saved the day when technical difficulties prevented
the playing of the Canadian National anthem after the US anthem went through ok.
The new fan club sang O Canada themselves.
My full game report will
follow in a day or so but it won't be much better. The Rhinos wore unmarked gray
t-shirts (ok they had small numerals on their chests). The Lynx wore their
vintage 1997 uniforms...white numbers on yellow shirts. I don't recognize them
by their haircuts this early in the season (Brian Ashton is no longer a bleach
blonde).
Martin Nash played the first half for Rochester and got in some
good crosses. Both Rhino penalty kicks were earned as the last defender back
made the desparate challenge on charging Rhino players. Referee Manuel Orellano
gave out no cards in the game.
Lynx starters were: goal Tom Zawislan
(Theo Zagar is still involved in the indoor league), defenders Brian Ashton, Joe
Mattachione, and Chris Pozniak, midfielders Robbie Aristodemo, Caswain Mason,
Lyndon Hooper, Miles O'Connor and Waldo Sponton. forwards Kristian Grzetic and
Juan Arango.
David DiPlacido, Kaska Walker, Daryl Gomez, Aaron Benjamin
and Bobby Rendhawa came in at halftime and Alex Lopez, Courtney Dennis, and Ervin
Ryta replaced more of the Lynx starters later in the second half.
Lamport
Stadium is astroturf and it looks like the webbing of the nets weren't tied down
because the last three goals all rolled out the back of the net.
Canadian
men's team national coach Holger Osieck was spotted in the crowd.
