Toronto Inferno vs Springfield Sirens

W-League game of Sunday June 17th, 2001 between Toronto Inferno and
Springfield (Massachusetts) Sirens played at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough
at 4:00pm.
Springfield won in Rochester last night and were an undefeated
8-0 this season. Inferno were 2-1-1.

send a 30 yard shot form the left into top right corner of net over leaping
goalie Julie Podhrasky.
63 min...Inferno GOAL Jo Hinks...Robyn Brady
races along left and passes forward to left to Hinks who cuts in and takes 12
yard shot to top left corner of net past defender and goalie.

min...Inferno GOAL Tanya Frank...Frank takes 35 yard shot from center of field
and deflection over sliding Siren defender Tasha Taiste and charging
goalie.

Attendance was about 110.
Inferno were short players on
Canadian National team duty Rochelle Willis (U-20 team) and her twin sister
Janine Willis (full WC team), Kim Warner and Alison Kelly (both U-20
team).
Springfield have international players Tiina Saario from Finland,
Jen Bhalla (Canada), Hege Lauvik (Norway) and Tammie Thornton (Australia).
Mr
Burns couldn't buy them a win today though.
Springfield fans were about 35
but no Homer and Marge Simpson. "Don't have a cow man".
The next Inferno
home game has been moved up to Friday June 29th at 8:00pm against Rochester
Ravens that's the day before the Canada-USA international. (originally scheduled
for Sunday night July 1st).
