Final Score:............York Region Shooters............1..........Montreal Dynamites...........2...........

Attendance was about 25. The game was originally supposed to start at 1:00pm and I got there just in time to see noone there. I didn't get out of my car and sped off to Richmond Green where their refurbished field was supposed to be ready by now. Only 4 kms away but with signs saying the park was under construction. There must be more than 12 play areas here but many were baseball diamonds. I walked around the hub and it was about as big as Toronto Zoo but I didn't see anything except a lot of softball games going on. Finally into the exhibit hall after seeing no open offices in the hockey arena. The caretakers said they hadn't heard there'd be a soccer game. Since it was on my way home, I stopped once again at Crosby Park and saw a figure walking across the field. Shooters general manager Ralph Aquino told me the game had been rescheduled to 3:00pm. There was a sign taped up to the entrance for the new time (another lesson to get out of my car to look). He said the Montreal team bus had broken down (well good excuse). On the way out I asked the driver of the bus and she said nothing had happened and the game had been rescheduled from Friday night. She also had the same conversation with the hot dog vendor. Of the 25 people, many looked like they were just passers-by who stopped walking their dogs or playing with their children to look things over.

And just last week I held my tongue while journalist Rick Boulton got in the punchline, "...what time does the game start? What time can you get here?" (Oh that's right, I talk about games on this board right?). I was really surprized after the predictable first 15 minutes when the Dynamites scored twice against the Shooters who've only actually won one game this season (plus one result-reversal win) because after those two goals they took over and dominated the game. A lot better effort than their 8-0 loss to Olympians the last time I saw this team nearly two months ago. Dynamites had beaten Toronto Supra last weekend. It shows there are no pushover teams at this time of year.

Dynamite goalie Nikola Pinto got into a pushing match with his defender Philippe-Andre Moreau about missing his marking. Maybe that was a warm up for the after game pushing match between the two teams. Still I thought referee Joe Licandro did a great job between the two whining teams. He yelled out something like "Geez even I can see that was offside, although a few of you have accused me that I don't have that ability".
