Result of the CPSL game between Ottawa Wizards and Toronto Olympians played Sunday October 14th, 2001 at Club Roma in St Catharines at 12:00pm. This was the Consolation Final of the Rogers Playoff Cup.

1st Half:...starts 12:09pm. OW defend south end on this warm and cloudy day with the exhaust fumes by the Rogers Cable trucks setting up for the next game stinking up the grandstand. All times are converted from my wristwatch.
2 min...TO Bridge crosses over from 25 yards on left, TO Ziannis 20 yard shot from right is caught by goalie.
6 min...TO Granic leads rush up middle and taps to TO Berdusco who passes back to him and Granic 15 yard shot is caught by sprawling goaltender.
7 min...OW Osman rolls weak 20 yarder from left to goalie.
9 min...TO Sanna feeds TO Smith up middle for a short breakaway and he lofts 10 yard shot off right goalpost, the rebound is covered up.
10 min...TO goalie rushes out to dive on ball ahead of OW Brkljaca leading break on left but he had pushed the ball too far forward.
11 min...TO Sanna 25 yard freekick, a diving header by TO Smith pushes ball into dirt from 8 yards.
A light rain starts.
18 min...OW Andrijanic freekick from 30 yards on extreme right cleared by first defender.
19 min...OW Shaw long pass up middle 55 yards rolls too far ahead of streaking OW Nelson.

(I hear that OW Sezraman has been in game for most of the 2nd half).
89 min...TO Berdusco cuts in 25 yard roller that diving goalie pushes wide left.
90 min...Olympians GOAL (an own goal) ...Wizards Mario Andrijanic slides back to try to stop TO John Williams getting to through ball and instead deflects 20 yard shot popped over goalie off his line and into center of own net. Oops! Andrijanic pulls his jersey over his face and waves to the crowd.

A league official told me that if this game had ended in a tie, there would have been no golden goal overtime halves but they'd have gone immediately to a shootout because of their television commitment to broadcast the Final.
Attendance was about 150 by halftime (anyone who arrived after that I counted for the Final game) on this
warm rainy day with a strong breeze. A few points could be made against playing this game at all and the major one is the players chewed up the field that had already had two games the previous day and turned it into a mud pit. Field
conditions were slippery with a change from drizzle to no rain and heavier rain.
Olympians once again had weekend signing Rick Titus on defence but no Elvis Thomas and only two substitutes, John Williams and Filipe Corredoura.
