2 min...TO Matas on break, sliding defender clears before he shoots from 25 yards.
6 min...Wolves GOAL Gary Hughes...Wolves get a cornerkick from right, Wolves player leaps to get to header from 5 yards out and ball hits crossbar deflecting straight down, rebound is pushed over line from one yard although defender hooks it out from one yard behind line. Gary Hughes given credit for the goal.
10 min...TO Giummarra 45 yard freekick into box is headed away.
11 min...TO Granic pushes ball to TO Marasovic who chests ball down on break and but Wolves goalie picks it up.

90 min...TO GOAL Bayette Smith...TO Willie Giummarra takes cornerkick from right. Smith one touches with foot leaping waist high to hit 5 yarder into left side of net.

Attendance was about 40 and from the 20th minute on they were poured on as Toronto had another
day of rain to make up for doing without for seven weeks.
This is my
worst write up in quite a few years as the Wolves came to play
in their white uniforms but the Olympians did too. Wolves were given orange
semi-transparent pinnies (vests) to wear so they were easy to tell between
teams but I couldn't tell the Wolves players apart.
I was helping PA guy
Glen Sutherland and reporter Rick Boulton decipher who was making a Wolves play
but beyond 30 yards, there's no way anyone figure out who was who.
Still two
good laughs from me:
"After the game the Wolves are going out to Birchmount
Ave to finish paving the road." (construction in area detoured all but local
traffic on the way in, those vests look just like the highway
crews).
"Maybe if Wolves score again the player will do a Brandi Chastain
and pull off his vest so we can announce who scored".
This was a huge
game in the standings as Olympians retain their hold on 1st place playing
without an injured Eddy Berdusco for another few weeks. Tommy Kouzmanis is attending the University of Toronto and has to take the next 30 days off the Olympians so he can be an amateur then play for both his teams (!?) in a confusing rule I don't fully understand.
