Sunday, August 5
There were three games in the CPSL tonight, all OZ Optics Cup qualifiers:
OTTAWA WIZARDS 4, DURHAM FLAMES 1
TORONTO OLYMPIANS 1, NORTH YORK ASTROS 0
GLEN SHIELDS SUN DEVILS 5, BRAMPTON HITMEN 5

OTTAWA WIZARDS CONTINUE WINNING WAY
Brampton Hitmen fought back from a 4-2 half-time deficit to tie Glen Shields Sun Devils 5-5 in one of three OZ Optics League Cup qualifying games played tonight. There were eight goalscorers in the high scoring affair, including two for Gus Kouzmanis of Glen Shields and a pair for Kurt Mella of Brampton.

Ottawa Wizards continued their winning way with a 4-1 romp over Durham Flames at the Civic Stadium in Oshawa. Abraham Osman, Mario Andrijanic, Kevin Nelson and Samir Karaga were the marksmen for Ottawa, while Omar El-Behairy scored the lone Durham goal. Ottawa has lost just one game in 12 league and cup encounters at this mid-point in the season.

Toronto Olympians nipped North York Astros, 1-0, at the Esther Shiner Stadium in North York tonight. The game was heading for a scoreless tie when Astros' defender Angelo Pollastrone deflected an Olympians attempt past his own goalkeeper at the 60th minute mark. Luciano Mirando in the North York nets had little chance to prevent the own-goal.

In a meaningless league cup game (St. Catharines had already clinched first place in this group), Glen Shields Sun Devils and Brampton Hitmen played to a
5 - 5 tie at Dufferin District Park this evening.

After Brampton took an early 2 - 1 lead after 20 minutes, Glen Shields scored three in a row to take a 4 - 2 lead at half time.

The teams exchanged goals early in the second half to leave Glen Shields ahead by 5 - 3 but Brampton stormed back with two goals in the final 10 minutes to claim the tie.
