ST. CATHARINES KEEP ROLLING ALONG
St.
Catharines Roma Wolves opened their OZ Optics League Cup campaign with a
2-1 win over Brampton Hitmen at Victoria Park tonight. Wolves clinched the
victory three minutes into the second half on a goal by Joe Carbonara, his
second of the season. The Hitmen took the lead before a
home crowd on a
goal by Adolfo Mella at the 23rd minute mark, but that was cancelled out
when Wolves' Frank Zumpano struck an equalizer just seconds to the
half-time whistle. Carbonara's winner gave St. Catharines a jump in Group
B of the OZ Optics Cup, to go with their league leading performance of
four wins in seven games at the top of the table.
In Group D action in the OZ Optics League Cup
at Crosby Park, York Region Shooters and North York Astros played to a
scoreless tie.
