TORONTO-Monday, September 11-The Toronto Lynx,
one of the last eight
teams bidding for the A-League Championship, face
a two-game home
and home series this weekend with a tough Richmond Kickers
squad.
Richmond is one of only two teams having won an impressive 20 of their
28
games played during the
regular season.
The Lynx host the
Kickers at Varsity Stadium this Friday, a 7.30 p.m. start,
and then
it's on to Richmond, Virginia, for game two on Sunday at 7. The
winner
of this two-game series will be in the Eastern Conference Final
one
week later and the eastern winner will play the Western Conference
winner
for the North American A-League title. The A-League is 25 teams in
a
U.S.-Canada loop stretching from Toronto and Montreal down to
Atlanta
across to El Paso, San Diego and San Francisco north to Seattle
and
Vancouver.
Round two is a total goals aggregate with the result of
each game
becoming meaningful only if the teams are tied on goals. Lynx head
coach
Peter Pinizzotto is reporting all players fit following the 2-1
elimination win
against Long Island on Friday and the team will be training
at Varsity
Stadium Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week
