Impact Make it
Four
Slide continues for the Lynx
from the
Lynx
The loss was the third in four days for the Lynx while on a five-game away swing that so far has resulted in a 2-1 loss to Long Island Rough Riders on Thursday and a 1-0 squeaker in favour of Rochester Raging Rhinos the following night.
Toronto suffered a set back after just three minutes
when midfielder Brian Ashton was ordered off by referee Guy Verna
following a goalmouth tangle with Montreal's Ali Ngon. The referee
also awarded a penalty to the Impact and Nick DeSantis scored his first of
the season from the spot. With a man advantage, Montreal went on the
offensive and went two up after 18 minutes when Mauro Biello scored his
third of the season on a rebound after Lynx goalkeeper Theo Zagar saved
from Darko Kolic. The score was 2-0 at half-time.
Lynx made several
changes at half-time, including goalkeeper Carmine Isacco who took over
from Zagar, but the move did not contain the Impact who went up 3-0 at the
55th. minute mark on a goal by Nevio Pizzolitto, his second of the season.
Pizzolitto took a pass from Giuliano Oliviero to beat Isacco with a lob
from the left wing.
This was the fourth straight win for the Impact which
improves to 7-11-3, while Toronto worsens to 8-6-4. Rochester defeated
Boston, 2-0 last night, to lift the Rhinos to 12-6-2 for 54 points
at the top of the Northeast Division Long Island Rough Riders are second
(44 points) and the Lynx third (38
pts.)
