Roma Wolves back on top,  Astros finish on positive note
St. Catharines Roma Wolves are back on top in the topsy-turvy battle for the CPSL League Cup.  Roma Wolves downed London City 4-0 and completed their season with a 12-1-1 record.

Four players got into the scoring for Club Roma, Frank Zumpano opened the scoring at the10th minute, one minute later it was 2-0 with Gary McGuchan hitting the net, by half time Club Roma had a commanding 4-0 lead with Andy McKay and Gary Hughes knocking in one each.

St. Catharines now has 37 points but Olympians have one match left to play next Wednesday the 27th at Birchmount Stadium against London City.  At Ester Shiner the Astros edged the Oshawa Flames 2-1 and finished their much improved season in 6th place.  Platon Krivochtchekov and Robert Rupf rallied for the Astros and Dave Kohek got the Flames' lone goal.  Flames had a 1-0 lead up until the 63rd minute when Astros equalized.  Rupf's goal at the 89th minute secured the win for North York.

CPSL League Cup Semi-Finals...The Final Four
CPSL League Cup semi-finals take place this evening at Birchmount Stadium, in the first game (7:00 p.m.) defending Champions Toronto Olympians take on Toronto Croatia.

Toronto Croatia will be well rested and with their recent victory at the North American Croatian Championships (defeating Cleveland in the semis and and Chicago in the finals), motivation should be no problem for this team.

Look for Olympians to have some new faces in their roster for this match.  David Gee, coach of the Olympians, has been very guarded about his line-up, the big question is will Elvis Thomas be back or is he still on trials in the States?  Plus also look for Rick Titus and Darren Tilley to suit up as Olympians defend their title and go for the three-peat.

In tonight's other match-up Glen Shields will be looking to get past St. Catharines Roma Wolves for a berth in their first CPSL Cup Final.  Both teams have good depth on the bench and players that can break the game open.  In the battle of the offence look to Carlo Arghittu and Gary Hughes of St. Catharines to aggressively attack the net.  For Glen Shields Agostino Vaglica and Phil Ionadi will be the danger men.

Please note that in the event of a tie, teams will proceed directly to penalty shots.
