Glen Shields Sun Devils qualify for Primus Cup.  St. Catharines, Olympians go down to wire
Glen Shields Sun Devils downed London City last night 3-0 and secured a place in the CPSL play-offs for the Primus Cup.  The victory by Glen Shields put to rest the drama that revolved around the fourth and final berth for the CPSL League play-offs.

Agostino Vaglica scored two goals for the Sun Devils, the first coming at the 11 minute mark off of a nice three way passing play that included Tolli Dasteridis and Mike Glasgow.  Vaglica was sprung free and struck home a great volley from just outside the penalty area.

Vaglica's second goal was just as spectacular converting a diving header from a corner kick.  Mike Glasgow scored just before half-time to give the Sun Devils a 3-0 lead at the half.  London City pressured in the second half but were unable to put one by Adam Morandini in net.  Interestingly enough Glen Shields will now face London City in the wild card game Friday night September 29th at Cove Rd. to see who advances to the semi-finals scheduled for September 30th.

In St. Catharines the Roma Wolves continued their winning ways edging the North York Astros 2-0.  It wasn't until the 57th minute that St. Catharines got on the score board with Gary McGuchan scoring his eighth goal of the season.  Carlo Arghittu scored at the 69th minute to secure the win for the Wolves and kept the pressure on the Olympians to win both of their last two games if they are to complete the three-peat for the League title.

Oshawa Flames saw their outside chance of making the playoffs go up in smoke as they were trounced 5-0 by the Olympians at Civic Stadium.  Five players got in on the scoring for the Olympians: Eddy Berdusco, Biate Smith, Phil Capporrella, Pevand Mossavat and Ron Belfon.

Upcoming Games
On Sunday Glen Shields will host the Shooters, even though the Shooters have been eliminated from the playoffs this will be a grudge match for the bragging rights for York Region.

North York Astros will be looking to upset the Olympians at Ester Shiner and gain a little respect and pride for what has been an unlucky season which has featured some good results against the tougher CPSL teams.
