St. Catharines down Olympians, Astros shock the Sun Devils, Shooters still in race
St. Catharines Roma Wolves moved into first place in the CPSL League standings with a 1-0 win over the Toronto Olympians at Birchmount Stadium.

Previously unbeaten Olympians still have a game in hand and four matches to play in regular season play.  St. Catharines have two matches left.  Toronto Olympians who have not exhibited the spark they have shown in previous seasons were unlucky not to go up 1-0 in the first five minutes when Gus Kouzmanis rattled one off the crossbar.

St. Catharines goalkeeper Dino Perri who had an excellent match stopped several key shots.  A point blank shot off of John Matus, then a spectacular save off a Pavin Mossajet free kick.  St. Catharines scored at the 44th minute when Perri once again stoned the Olympians forwards, his rebound went to Gary Hughes who was very solid in defence.  Hughes spotted Carlos Arghittu up field and sprang him loose with a nice 50-yard pass.  Arghittu made no mistake on the breakaway and his goal gave the Roma Wolves the 3 points.

Perri was once again solid in net in the second half turning away 12 shots.  His best being a diving save off of Eddie Berdusco at the 82nd minute.

North York Astros also came up with a big win on the weekend trouncing the Sun Devils 5-1 at Ester Shiner.  Astros who have four games remaining still have an outside chance of making the playoffs, Astros travel to St. Catharines on Wednesday night to take on the Roma Wolves which will be a big game for both teams.

York Region Shooters also kept their playoff hopes alive edging London City 4-3 at Richmond Green.  The Shooters will be routing for London City on Wednesday night as City face the Sun Devils at Dufferin/Clark.  John Bottineau leads the Shooters with two goals, Willy Giummarra and Mitch D'Angelo both notched in singles for the Shooters who have one regular League match left against the Glen Shields Sun Devils.

In Oshawa, Toronto Croatia who now has their top goal scorer Leo Marasovic, back from Europe in the line-up, secured third place in the League with a 3-1 win over the Flames.  Toronto Croatia has now qualified for both CPSL post season championships and will be looking for their first Championship in the CPSL.

CPSL League Cup semi-finals determined
Toronto Olympians cruised to a 2-0 win over York Region Shooters in their second leg of the CPSL League Cup Championships Friday night at Birchmount Stadium.  John Matus opened the scoring for the Olympians at the 7th minute mark on a nice three-way passing play.  Elvis Thomas chested a pass directly to Gus Kouzmanis who one-times it to Matus who volleyed it into the net.  Eddie Berdusco scored his 7th goal of the season when he scored from close range at the 82nd minute.  The victory by the Olympians now means that this years semi-finals are as follows:
